WikiLeaks or intelligence pantomime?

By Dark Politricks

This is my first comment on the most recent WikiLeaks story and it’s taken quite a while to gain some kind of perspective that make sense. It seems the harder you shake the proverbial WikiLeak tree the more and more crap falls out.

There are so many angles to the WikiLeaks story it is hard to know where to start and what to believe and like so many commentators who are keeping quiet and just watching with amazement trying to figure out what is going on I am sure something is up but I just don’t know what.

Is WikiLeaks just a home grown site run by cypherpunks which has grown too big for it’s own good or is the whole story just too good to be true. Some people claim the whole thing is a clever psy-op being carried out by an ever more tech savvy intelligence agency who more and more are willing to utilise the Internet, viruses and other cyber weapons in the battle to control and manage public perception.

Jeff Gates and Gordon Duff have made a strong case for the latter and have placed Israel as the most likely culprit for being the puppet master behind the curtain pulling Julian Assange’s strings like a punch and Judy showman on Brighton beach.

Now you might claim that they are biased and shout Israel at every opportunity but if the shoe fits the criminal then we shouldn’t let them walk away just because the only person who noticed the crime has a previous history with them. The Veterans Today crowd have done a good job of analysing the history of WikiLeaks in a three part story called the “Case Against WikiLeaks” (part 1part 2, part 3)

One thing is for sure and that is so far Israel has come out of the leaks so far pretty well. The Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that the leaks “were good for Israel,” that Israel had “worked in advance” to limit any damage from the leaks, and assured reporters that “no classified Israeli material was exposed by WikiLeaks.” This sounds like someone who knew exactly what was about to be revealed and couldn’t be bothered in the slightest. The question more and more people are asking is why not.

Not only did the latest WikiLeaks story knock from the front pages the latest failed attempt at a peace deal between Israel and Palestine but it embarrassed America the broker of the latest deal and weakened Obama at a time he was trying to pressure Israel into extending a settlement freeze. Not only that but it re-ignited talk of an attack on Iran, revealed supposed pro-Israel allies in the Arab world and switched the worlds attention away from Israeli occupation and back to the phony war on terror and the supposed next target country.

So not only did Israel benefit from the timing of the release in that no peace deal was reached and the status quo that they benefit from continues but the actual content of the leaked memos was surprisingly void of any meaningful mention of Israeli actions such as it’s war in Lebanon and the much criticised Operation Cast Lead in Gaza.

In fact it’s almost as if the whole section of documents relating to Israel from that time period has either been purposely removed or lost and most fingers are pointing to Assange. The reason being apart from comments that he made praising Netanyahu for his openness and transparency there have been repeated claims that Assange actually met up with Israeli intelligence in Geneva and made a deal to ensure nothing that could hurt Israeli interests would be leaked. Maybe this deal was what the Israeli PM was referring to when he claimed that Israel had “worked in advance” to reduce potential damaging leaks?

When every country apart from Israel has an embarrassing story or two revealed about it and the Israeli PM is claiming that he managed to negate any possible threat beforehand it’s not exactly a conspiracy theory to try and put two and two together and end up with four.

Even though Assange claimed in an Al Jazeera interview that he planned to release 2,700 documents related to Israel within the next six months. We are still waiting to read anything of note about its wars in Gaza, Lebanon and it’s assassination of a Hamas leader in Dubai. He also claimed that the only reason we hadn’t seen more documents concerning Israel was down to western sensibilites and the strong pro-Israeli nature of the media publications he had teamed up with i.e the Guardian, New York Times and Le Monde which sure isn’t going to do Israel any favours countering claims that it has too much influence in controlling western media.

Whether or not these memos are released before Assange gets his free plane trip to the USA via Sweeden or the choice of a deal in return for self censorship or a few bullets in the head I don’t know but I am pretty sure that if he is being used then it cannot be willingly. I don’t know anyone that would chose to spend a week in Wandsworth nick on the protection wing surrounded by nonces and serial rapists.

He might have taken some money along the way, agreed to help keep some names out and ensure certain interests were not hurt in return for a few hot Swedish girls phone numbers but I am pretty sure that like with most patsies used by intelligence agencies it’s much better all round if they actually believe in what they are doing as it makes it all so more believable.

WikiLeaks has a cult following and in some quarters has been given the mantle of torch bearer for the alternative press. It generated a storm of publicity and attracted a multitude of followers when it released its Iraq war documents and the helicopter assassination video earlier this year.

This gave them a certain level of credibility in those sections of the community who had already deserted mainstream news outlets and were searching for honesty and truth in a world full of lies. Once trust has been earned it is easy to slip in a few lies and the online community is one of the most skeptical and anti-establishment of all critical thinking groups and one which any government would love to be able to manipulate and control.

I cannot think for one minute that Julian Assange would have chosen to play the lead role in the CIA/Mossad panto production of Goldilocks if he knew that he would end up in an orange jumpsuit with Jamal and Ahmed in sunny Cuba or had to spend a week in Wandsworth prison where he would have been the prime target for everyone to take a pop at.

No I think it’s a lot more likely that an intel gang saw WikiLeaks as the perfect opportunity to pass off fraudulent or pointed intel without having to exercise overt control and the very nature of WikiLeaks is that it’s supposed to enable leakers to release documents and remain anonymous. Therefore it would be very easy for an agency to submit directly or indirectly seeded intel and remain in the shadows.

Like many IT pioneers and companies that have trod the super information highway before him such as Google and Microsoft that have close ties to intelligence agencies its not surprising to find out via John Young, one of the founders of WikiLeaks, that in fact 25% of hardcore hackers are in fact snitches for government agencies. He has himself released personal correspondence that suggests some form of collusion between WikiLeaks and CIA related organisations. The following extract is from a letter he received from WikiLeaks in 1997:

“If fleecing the CIA will assist us, then fleece we will. We have pullbacks from NED, CFR, Freedomhouse and other CIA teats. We have all of pre 2005 afghanistan. Almost all of india fed. Half a dozen foreign ministries. Dozens of political parties and consulates, worldbank, apec, UN sections, trade groups, Tibet and fulan dafa associations and… Russian phishing mafia who pull data everywhere. We’re drowning. We don’t even know a tenth of what we have or who it belongs to. We stopped storing it at 1Tb.”

So even WikiLeaks admit that the majority of all their documents are from sources that cannot be confirmed that are taken from various governmental agencies and systems that intelligence agencies of all forms would have easy access to. Therefore it would be a very simple task for an agency such as the CIA or Mossad to plant their own documents within a batch of legitimate ones knowing that when WikiLeaks extracted them from their target they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the plants and the originals. Mix up a bit of truth with some lies and feed said recipe to a gullible population, it’s the perfect recipe.

The Internet is the 21st century battlefield that the future of any New World Order will be decided upon and we have had many virtual battles fought and won already within the last few years. The major players: USA, Israel, China and Russia are all experts in deploying “authorised” viruses and its no wonder that these same countries are all homes to big players in the world of cyber crime and hacking.

We recently had the story of China re-routing internet traffic through its servers, the Chinese Google hack, and the recent Stuxnet virus which has been designated as the first cyber super weapon.

Is WikiLeaks another cyber weapon being deployed in this virtual battlefield or has it just got to the stage now that it’s become impossible to tell what’s actually going on.

Have people just run away with their imaginations, are we being played a clever game of double bluff or are we just so used to the mind games played by the intelligence agencies that we can see straight through them. One thing is for sure and that is if the powers that be wanted to pull such a stunt as to use WikiLeaks as a front to disseminate false intel to a new generation unused to TV and News propaganda:

a) they could easily do it

b) a large percentage of people would fall for it hook line and sinker.

Lets just hope its not the latter.
